This is the time of year when I want to drown myself into a cocoon of coziness: Sherpa blankets, cute sweaters, oversized sweatshirts and hoodies. This is also the time of year when I realize that (with the added pandemic weight) nothing quite fits like it used to. My wardrobe of closet essentials are dated from a decade ago. All my leggings with pockets have holes near its seams from repeated weekly washes. This wouldn’t matter if I didn’t have to leave the house like early pandemic years. But the return of in-person holiday potlucks require dress codes of stretchy elastic waistbands. Do I own the essential pair of sweatpants? Or the perfect airport hoodie? No. I only own skinny jeans and leggings, the very definition of millennial cheugy.
Hoodie TikTok has overtaken my ForYou page. The trend was inspired by California TikToker Julia Huynh, who crowns boxy oversized hoodies with huge romantic hoods as the perfect hoodie fits. None of my hoodies hoodie. They’re not sexy like these $100 garments that I would buy for myself if I could afford to look like an expensive cloud (and if some weren’t already sold out).
Ooey gooey mockneck sweatshirts with pockets with matching shorts
Brunch sweaters in every color
Non-clothing items I’m on the lookout for:
Nintendo Switch plus games
Let me know if you spot any quality Black Friday deals. I may have a shopping trip queued for later.
